It has always been more than just raindrops on a pane of glass. As this series evolves, so too does it cause me to grow with it. From the beginning this series has been one of experimentation, of pushing myself to grow, to see and express ideas in new ways.
These pieces speak of environmental degradation and of how overdevelopment affects our perception. They show the world as one sees it separated by a piece of glass—being able to see it, but not be a part of it: are we doomed to be an observer in our own world? A conflict arises, because—as beautiful and atmospheric as the rain is—it is damned miserable to be in. That pane of glass protects us from the cold and the wet, and why would we want to be in the rain anyway?
Rainy Season continues the theme of environmental activism that appears throughout my work, but in a more personal, conflicted, and nuanced way.
