LOVE EXCHANGE by Jiyoo Jye

Jiyoo Jye lives by Paul Chen's quote: "Artists hallucinate through theory." Her own aesthetic is hazy and fantastical, and this piece is no exception. She created "Love Exchange" around Valentines Day to bring to light the "exchange" between lovers and what it means to give and to have. To Jiyoo, what lovers exchange is as abstract and intangible as smoke fumes.

Jiyoo Jye grew up in New Jersey and now lives in Woodstock, Maryland with her cat-emulating shih tzu, Cookie. She is working towards her BFA degree with a minor in religious studies at Carnegie Mellon.
