NEW LIGHT ON THE OLD FRONTIER by Shannon May

Shannon May blends two passions - science and art. Although often treated as separate spheres, Shannon says for her, “it just made sense to combine the two.” She sees both science and art as “means for us as human beings to understand ourselves and our place in the world.” Her precise yet humorous work follows in the footsteps of Norton Juster, Buckminster Fuller, and Edwin A. Abbott - great creatives combining science and math with art.

Shannon grew up on the coast of southeastern Connecticut but recently moved to San Francisco with her peachy kitten Momo. She has a BFA from MICA in in Illustration and Printmaking. She has exhibited her work in a number of shows at MICA, the Room Gallery in San Rafael, the Curiosity Shoppe and Viracocha in San Francisco, and online at design*sponge, Communication Arts, and Science Friday.
