DRIED ROSE by Robert Ullmann

Robert Ullmann saw his first SLR camera at the age of four and was hooked. He shoots a variety of subjects but enjoys still life because it is slower and "a different kind of meditation." He bought this rose from a local New York City vegetable stand and photographed it throughout its lifespan. Then, Robert dried and captured the flower one last time. His black and white photographs are greatly influenced by Ansel Adams's commitment to a full range of tones.

Robert lives in New York City with his family and Dolores, a 10 year old pit mix. He has a BFA in music from Julliard and grew up with a family of artists, musicians, dancers, singers, writers and gallery owners. His art has been shown at Ricco Marresca gallery, Claire Dunphy Gallery, published in Aperture magazine and privately collected.
