WHITE HYDRANGEAS by Judy Mackey

Judy Mackey finds inspiration in color - the combinations of colors and what she can do with them. In "White Hydrangeas," Judy says she "strived for a softness."  Her white hydrangeas pick up a little blue and green and the vase is tan. All the colors are muted to give a sense of dreaminess.

Judy was born in Yokohama, Japan and lived there most of her life as a Military Brat, her father an American, her mother Japanese, with one foot in each culture. She moved to the U.S. when she was a young adult to be with her fiancé. "I like paintings that tell a story in a very simple form, minimalistic form," Judy says. "I don't give a lot of information in the paintings but just enough so that the viewer can add their interpretation to the story."
