REGINA by Ryan Pickart

Ryan Pickart's portraits relay a naturalist's perception of beauty. He captures his subjects in their most raw and comfortable state, filled with both strength and vulnerability. Much like the great Expressionists Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele, Ryan's work blends abstraction and realism. Backgrounds of undefined drips and patterns contrast sharply with crisp faces and sensual skin. While Regina is not a real person, Ryan says the piece was inspired by the bright red hair of famed artist Jeanne-Claude.

Ryan grew up in Lowell, Indiana and now lives in Ogden Dunes with his dog, Verdi. He studied Graphic Design, Illustration, and Drawing and Painting at Grace College and has shown his paintings in galleries across Indiana.
