URBAN MYSTERY 100 by Maria Dimanshtein

Maria Dimanshtein moved from Latvia to Chicago twelve years ago. Her Urban Mystery series embodies the elegance and richness of the Windy City. This particular building is at the north end of Lake Shore Drive in a neighborhood where she lived for several years. While walking home after a night of dancing, Maria was struck by the beauty of its illuminated, geometric pattern of windows against the dark sky.

Maria lives near Millennium Park in downtown Chicago, but grew up in Riga, the capital of Latvia. She started her art education at the age of 10. She has an art degree from the Riga School of Art, a BA in graphic design from University of Illinois at Chicago, and will begin pursuing an MFA at Northern Illinois University in August 2010.

The original is 18" x 24", acrylic paint and screenprint on birch wood panel.
