Inspired by the work of John Singer Sargent and the French Impressionists, I have had a lifelong passion for creating oil paintings that reflect my interest in the human spirit. I observe people going about their daily lives and use paint as a language to express my emotional response to the subject. My desire is not so much to recreate what I see, but to express the essence of what I see. The simplest act can become the most compelling painting. The actual painting process becomes a journey into the soul where the physical and spiritual worlds merge and, through paint, I can share my experience of the subject with others. For me, the world is a living canvas.
