I love dramatic lighting. I have always been drawn to movie film and how light can completely capture an emotion. I really enjoy finding a subject that is generally taken for granted and bringing it out into the light. I try to never press a theme or feeling onto the viewer, and let them form their own emotional response.
Robert Capa and Robert Frank were early influences. I loved the gritty, "shoot from the hip" feeling of their images. I tried to emulate that when I first started taking pictures. I have grown fond of photographers like William Eggleston, Andreas Gursky, and Stephen Shore. I enjoy their ability to carefully compose and shoot ordinary subjects and scenes, and make them into fantastic images.
