BrakeCheck is a local company that fixes brakes. I came across this little scene as they were painting the roof in their signature yellow. The tree was not put back into its upright position for some weeks and grew crooked for many years.

In school, I studied art history I was especially taken with the abstract expressionists. I've always wondered if one could apply to photography the concepts they were working with. And more to the point, can the subject ever really be divorced from the composition? In other words, can the real world be just a canvas on which the artist plays with the formal aspects of line, color and form or are we always "looking through a window" at the subject of a photograph.
