LA PORTE BLEUE by Patricia Freeman

This door looks out from a crumbling building in Florence, Italy. Doors are symbolic of both new beginnings and endings, and Patricia painted the piece in hopes someone would give the dilapidated building a second life.

Patricia lives in Oklahoma City with her husband. When asked why she paints, Patricia replied, "I paint because I have to." The process, peeling the plastic off a new canvas to smelling the paint, lifts her to a state of pure joy.

The original "La Porte Bleue" is a 15" x 20" acrylic painting on canvas.
